Dear Chrissie

I received your kind and welcome letter today and that picture of you is the most natural picture possible I am glad you gave the patients a good time for I allways injoy my self better when I am helping to give a good concert than when I am in the audience. but really I do think that instead of wearing short skirts just up to your knees that you wore short skirts down to your knees it would be far more proper

Well Chrissie I hope Arthur is still keeping and let me know where he is the next time you write as you did not mention him in your letter.

Well Dear Sister our red cross social was a success in [every?] the progamme was good and we made £25 which is over twice as much as was made at any previous social I was in a dialogue and all gave a reading about a Irish servant girl and also dressed for the part but I was modest enough to wear skirt down to my ankles Well anyway I got encored. Well Chrissie I don’t think I will be a minister although I will try to do my bit in [an?] humble way. Well Chrissie I enlisted on the 23rd of last Dec. I was supposed to report at camp tomorrow but as they have not sent me my pass yet I will not be going till they do but you can answer this to Mr Flints and he will forward it to me. Well Chrissie I had a real good time at Christmas. and at Newyears I was invited out to a neighbours where I had a good time. Well Chrissie there was a surprise party given here in my honour and I was presented with an handsome radium wrist watch as a farewell present. Well Chrissie a surprise party is what the name suggests that is I did not know anything about it till in came marching an whole bunch of boys and girls just 34 in all we had a swell time playing games and singing but the party broke up early, (in the the morning 2 a/m) I was sorry to hear of Ethel’s loss. Well Chrissie we have had the coldest weather for years. the mercury dropped to 60 deg. below zero in this part and further north it was 45 below and lots of people got either their ears and toes and fingers or nose froze but I managed to come through alright. well Chrissie I think this is all at [present?] so I will close hoping this will find you in the best of health as I am pleased to say it leaves me and wishing you the best of luck I will Close
