MR. LEWIS L. BROPHY DIES IN NEW YORK
Unexpected Death of Former Well-Known Ottawan.
Mr. Lewis L. Brophy, formerly a well-known resident of Ottawa, died suddenly at his residence in New York city on Wednesday at noon. He had been sick about five days but his death was unexpected and came very suddenly. The late Mr. Brophy was born in Quebec city about 55 years ago and came to Ottawa with his parents when quite young. He lived in Ottawa for many years and about ten years ago he went to New York where he was connected with the Equitable Life Insurance Company. The late Mr. Brophy was very well known in Ottawa, being at one time an amateur actor of high standing. He was a member of the C.M.B.A. while here and also of St. Joseph’s church. He is survived by his widow and one infant son, David Hart Brophy; also four brothers, Gerald F., of Montreal, Charles B., of New York, W.M. and Arthur Brophy of Ottawa. The funeral will take place on Saturday morning in New York.
