Dear Father and Mother

I received your most welcome letter yesterday and was very glad to hear from you once more.

I am still in good health and am very pleased to hear that you are both feeling well. It has rained quite a lot here the last few days, but only in short showers so, we don’t mind it very much.

I read Jimmie’s letter, and I think he can consider himself pretty lucky that he don’t have to join the army now, as he will miss the winter at any rate and believe me, that is something, and perhaps the war will be over soon and then we will all come back to a real country, if we are  lucky.

I got a letter to-day from Sis and she says she is well at present. I must write to her right away as I don’t write to her half enough as it is, and she has been pretty good to me although I didn’t know it at the time.

It seems that there are lots of things a fellow should do but never gets wise to himself until it’s too late.

Well Mother I can’t think of anymore to write, so I guess I will have to close for this time.

Hoping to hear from you soon, I remain ever your loving son
Amos

P.S. Tell Dad he can send me some Bull Durham and papers, if he feels like it.
Amos
