ANOTHER VARSITY MAN GONE

LIEUT. H. E. B. PLATT KILLED.
Brilliant Student of Class of 1913—
Formerly on Staff, and Subsequently Student-at-Law of Osgoode.

Lieut. Henry Errol Beauchamp Platt, M.A., honor graduate of Toronto University, formerly on the staff of the Political Science Department, and subsequently student-at-law in Osgoode Hall, has been killed in action.

Lieut. Platt was 25 years of age, and the only son of Mr. A. T. Platt, 1574 King street west. Prior to the war he had six years’ military training in the 2nd Q.O.R. During the winter of 1914-15 he was in charge of the guard at the filtration plant at the Island up to the time of his enrolment as an officer of the 35th Battalion.

On June 3rd, 1915, he. left for England, where he joined the 3rd Battalion, arriving In the trenches in September. For a time he was in charge of a bomb detachment. Recently he was ordered to the military college at St. Omer for Instruction' in the Lewis quick-firing gun, and then he was attached to headquarters' staff as intelligence officer.

BRILLIANT GRADUATE.
Lieut. Platt attended Parkdale Collegiate and graduated from Toronto University with brilliant honors in 1913, being awarded the Mackenzie fellowship in political science. For the year following his graduation he tutored in the economics department of the University under Prof. James Mayor, also taking the degree of M.A. He was a first year student at Osgoode Hall when he enlisted.

At college Lieut. Platt played on the first Rugby team, was a member of the Psi Delta Psi fraternity, Thirteen Club, Historical Club and the "Lit.” He was also an oarsman with the Argonaut Rowing Club.
