Somewhere in Italy

27.2.18

Dear Mother.-

The last time I wrote I was in France now it is Italy. From what I can see of the two countries I would rather be in France although as far as camps go this is one lovely place. Just think we had real white bread to eat today and lots of fruit.

This is the best Rest Camp we have struck yet. I had a bath wash & shave and now I am sitting out in the sun trying to write a few short letters.

The Officers 1/c of this camp seem very nice & are giving the boys a little outing in the Town the name of which I can not tell you. Most of the Boys are down Town but I stayed back to have a little bath.

France is a very pretty country especially in the south where oranges and other tropical plants & trees can be seen.

I am enjoying the trip for you do see some country and the further away from England you go the better reception we get. I only wish you could all come along but perhaps after the way we can all do so.

Well I will close hoping you are well & having a real good time.

With love,

Alfred.
