France, January 27, 1917
Dear Father,
I received yours today dated December 17 and glad to hear you were all well. I had a letter from Archie. He is now in Convalescent Hospital and is doing well, though still on crutches. I have only got two of your parcels; one with cake, socks and tobacco and another one with a pair of socks from Ladies' Aid. Jeanie's and Lily's parcels have likely been lost. You put too much address on my letters. All that is needed is No., Name, No. 3 Coy, PPCLI, France. On one of your parcels you had my number down as 159627; however, I got it alright. It is pretty cold here at present with a little snow but we have good clothes - bear skin coats and so on so I don't mind it much. I'll have to close now as I hear the joyful cry "rum up". It is a great thing to drive out the cold. Love to all at home. Remember me to all.
Your affectionate son, Ronald
