Dear Abbie

Mrs Henbury & her daughter came to see me yesterday and brought me fags & fruit.

I was very glad to see them. The old lady is looking very well, but still has Alfs death very fresh on her memory. About the first question she asked me was whether I had killed any Germans, I told her I had done my darndest with a fair amount of success. She seemed satisfied at that. I just have time for this note as I have already written John, but thought you might like to hear that they had been to see me. Will try and write soon again.

In haste (lights out in 3 minutes)
Your loving brother
Douglas
