My Dear John

Have just received your letter of June 29th, and though belated it was very welcome. Your kind offer of the car waiting at the Dominion Garage on Aug 1st I'm afraid I cant accept at present, but you're too good to me altogether old man. You do all sorts of things for me, and all I do in return is to write you a few lines now and then.

And then I [?] forget Abbies birthday also little John's. You must think I'm a mutt.

We are having great weather here now, but it makes one very lazy. The bathing seems very popular, but I can't go in for a week or so, till this latest cut is healed. The arm gives me no trouble now, and I'm feeling fine. Judging by the letters you must all be having a great time in little old Guysboro. I guess Father appreciates automobiles now more than he did.

Do you remember Sgt Murton who was my first drill sergeant in the old [?].O.R. He came to this hospital this morning Had been wounded but looks fit again now.

Please give my love to all at home including your Mother, and again thanking your for your letter I remain

Your loving brother
Douglas. G. Buckley
