Dear Jean:

No mail from you during the week, which averages up for the previous week. Probably will get one early this week. Had an airletter from Uncle Alfred Andrews, Winnipeg, congrats for the MBE. The old boy was quite pleased about it.

Was at the office all day, but it was so thick tonight that I decided to do your letter here, hence no typewriter. Am lucky to have got home at all. Many people will likely be stranded all over, as trains & buses are quite disorganized. It is the nearest thing to a real "London Pea-souper" that I have seen. Morris's wanted me to go down there for the weekend, but wisdom prevailed. It would have been a hopeless trip.
Had a little fun during the week. Monday had lunch with Col Lloyd, here at London House. He is the one who visited Victoria. Summer of '39. Friday, Major Sam Gamble and wife & I went to theatre "While the Sun Shines" at the Globe. Quite funny and good acting. Had supper after at "Romano's in Soho. Last night went down to Bevans' flat at the Bow Street Police Court, and played "Black-Jack" till after midnight. Lost about 5 shillings, but had fun and Mrs B made some excellent coffee.
If the weather is clear enough tomorrow, I am driving to an airfield about 80 miles out. Tuesday Bert Hayward and I are planning to have a Turkish bath - he knows a good place.

Hope you and Mary escaped the flu'. You may get some cold weather now. Been a very good winter here so far. Am getting ahead slowly with my instrument, but it is a terrific amount of work. It helps the time to fly.

Love to you both - GER.
