Dear Alice,

Just a few lines to let you know I'm progressing very nicely and have had my first Medical Board which I made B III out of, but expect another in two or three weeks time. I don't think I'll ever be fit for the line any more not for a long time. I certainly will be glad to get out of this place. Sure are having some fine weather now. I went up to London last Saturday and had a very nice time. By the way, I have not heard from you or anybody else for quite awhile nor from home. I suppose the mail is going to the Bottom of the sea and have you ever heard from Albert Pearce. Well here is the date of my enlistment Nov. 17, 1916 and I was wounded on Nov. 17, 1917 at Passchendaele, and I was there with the 87th Can. Grenadiers Guards. I would certainly like to be over there for this summer in my old motor boat, but what hope's I have got eh? I don't think I have ever taken you out in it, but never mine I'll take you out when I get back. How are things getting along at St. Mary's and give my kindest regards to them all. Well I might have to conclude now, as it is time for me to go on Church Parade so remember me to Mother and hoping this will find you all in the "pink".

So long,

Yours sincerely

Walter Veniez
