My Dear Mother,

I rec' your letter two days ago and am answering it today. I sent a July postcard the other day. We are having lovely weather now and the days are fine and warm. There are quite a few flies and mosquitos around.

The last time we were out for a rest I saw Harold Thomas and he seemed to be getting along fine. I am sorry Georgie couldn't stay with you longer than she did.

So you had a few of the young ladies in. It would seem like old times to have them all meet again. There is a fellow from [?] here in the 43rd. I think his name is Leachman. Arthur [?] knows him, he came over in a reinforcing draft a short time ago.

I am glad Claude Standing has got a job and hope he will be able to hold it down for a while as it is nearly time he had a steady job.

So Charlie Hardy hasn't left Sewell yet. He heard over here that five hundred of them had landed in England but it must have been a wrong rumour as we often hear some strange yarns in this country. It is too bad about Mrs Moffat having to go to the [?] It will make it hard for Mr Moffat as there was always plenty of work to do and she worked very hard. I am glad to hear that the crops are looking good and hope you will harvest a good crop. I had a letter from Miss Keith and Miss Lawrie the other day so will have to answer them. Mabel Skinner sent me a box of Dinndy Fudge but I haven't rec'it yet. They do not bring all the parcels up to the trenches as the transportation is not very good for this last month or two and they keep till we go back in camp. Well Mother I haven't any more news to tell you but will write in a few more days.

I can answer you that I am trying to do my share and praying to god that the war will be soon over and that we may all be together soon.

With lots of love to everybody.

From your loving son
Jim
