My dear Lulu

At last I have my new address. I arrived here last night, but as yet have not been examined. I have been given a bed in a hut, & find things pretty rough after Napsbury. There is noone to do things for you, & you have to get along just as you can. Once more I am amongst strangers, but they are all Canadians, so in a sense it seems more like home. We seem to be well fed, but as is usual when there are only men around it seem to have more of those elements that make a home, really home. It is just a military home.

But the town of Ramsgate makes up for everything. It is a beautiful sea-side watering place with the finest promenades, which even here in wartime is quite lively. Of course the wounded soldiers predominate. There are crowds of men on crutches & nursing arms or without them, & I find my injuries but a drop in the bucket.

As soon as I get any definite word as to my future I will send it to you; I am consumed with anxiety to be back with you, & I long to be with you with all my heart. But I find that it many be months before I get any definate decision. If they can make me fit for France in any reasonable time I am sure you would agree that I should go, for neither of us would like to teach people what we are unwilling to practice; dont you say "Yes", Lulu? If I was with you Lulu I am sure your eyes would say 'Yes', no matter what either of us felt. Our union would be all the sweeter because we had done all we could. The great Master would make us very happy because we had given all He asked. Write as soon as you get this, for I long for your answer, Lulu dear.

Well, I suppose I may have to go a long time before I get a letter from you my dear little girl.

With best love
Yours as ever
Tom
