My Dear Mother-

I know this address is going to cheer you up as it has me although I have had a long day and have done a deal of tramping the relief and freedom I begin to feel in a Canadian camp quite overcomes any tiredness. It is a different atmosphere entirely and although Ive run across nobody I know yet, still every face is friendly. I felt Shorncliffe or Sandling about 11:30 am getting to London about 2 pm. Then went to the Pay Office, got 4 pounds had something to eat and caught the 4:55 arriving here about 7 pm. Have given in all my particulars to the office here and expect in a couple of days to go up to London again for my kit. Then I see no reason why I should be staying in England much longer. Joe wants me to try for another leave but I don't think I will do this if it is going to interfere with getting home sooner. I have had no mail since I left Worsley as I asked them to hold it at Glasgow until I have them my address. I hope you are all keeping well and the weather is not too severe for you. Two months now I suppose will see these Saturday trips to the lot but please don't try and do a man's work digging it up. Im sure it is now too much for you. The last couple of nights at Sandling I went walking. The first night I did 12 miles and on Sunday afternoon and evening 16 miles. It is fine exercise to make a sound nights sleep and if I can find somebody likewise inclined in this camp I will continue. Will write you again in a few days. With kindest love to all.

Your loving son
John
