Dear Mother

Just a few lines to let you know I am getting on very well and hope you are the same. Did you get my last letter written about a week ago. Since I left the Battalion I have not received any mail, but expect they know where I am by now. The day I went into the trenches last I received your parcel and of course took it with me. I hope the boys enjoyed it as I got hit before getting to the trenches. Letters addressed with my name number and battalion as well as no.19 Can. Base Depot France. will reach me. How is everything at home. Has Percy any notion of gowing up.

I have not seen Art Mitch or Johnnie McCarron yet but may run across them sometime.

Well as news is scarce I must close. Write soon and let know the latest.

Goodbye

Charlie
