Dear Mother

Just a few lines to let you know I am well, hoping you are the same. We are having very good weather now of course it is wet once in a while but not too had. Last night I got you parcel with 2 pairs of socks 1 pair mitts and a muffler. That makes three mufflers I had sent me this winter. We had a lot of socks and things sent us at Christmas so dont bother to send me any more socks or mitts. Time seems to go very quickly out here. A few days ago they thought I was not much use as a private so they made me a Lance Corporal. Last week I had a letter from George Worthy he said Allan had joined the S.O.E. while I am out here I do not have to pay any dues. Before this reaches you my Insurance will be due so dont forget to pay it. I dont suppose my being out here will make any difference to it.

How is Bob [?] getting on now. I nearly forgot all about him.

How is Solomon Nutch and Maggie Townsend now. when I get back I will find quite a change.

Everybody here tells me I am getting fat. I am too. I am quite a cook now can almost boil water without burning it.

Well news is scarce so will ring off.

Good bye
Charlie
