Dear Mother:-

I haven't received any letter from you this week. The last Canadian mail came in last Tuesday but I will look for one as soon as the next mail arrives. We have been digging trenches and cooking our dinners for the last few days. The cooking wasn't very good either. This morning had a battery parade and kit inspection as usual on a Sunday morning. I had a nice letter from Violet this week and a box from you. The peanut butter is all gone it was very good. How is the fruit in the garden and around the country. Is Bruce still at home I suppose he will soon be going back to school There is still nothing but rumors of us going to France soon. I will close now love to all

Your loving Son Jay
