Dear Jay,

Your letter of 9th Mar arrived yesterday. I hope to goodness you have received one or two pairs of socks before you get this letter. I have sent 6 or 8 pairs since xmas. I have put 1 pair in almost every box since then. I would feel very bad to have you in need of socks or anything else that I could send you. You don't have much time to enjoy your little fire do you. You will be glad the cold weather is over. It must have been terrible out there. Today is the 1 of April. The time is going, the weather is getting mild. We thought to take some snaps but it is raining. Next Sunday I hope it will be fine, maybe before then. Eleanor was here over Sat & until noon today. She is just as sweet as can be & would stay for a week. The Garden City is running to & from Port Dalhousie. Bruce is looking forward to a trip on her on Good Friday which will be this week. He will spend the Easter holidays in the country. I hope to go over on the boat for a day or two after a while. We are going to try gardening in boxes as soon as we can find the boxes. It will be a poor little garden I am thinking & how we will miss our own garden of the country. Yesterday I met Grace down town to do some shopping. The stores were crowded - one could hardly get about. I got my glasses at last. I have to wear them I have had so much headache this winter. I hope now to have less of that trouble. Have you heard from Art since he has been in the hospital? This will be all for this time.

good bye & lots of love,
mother.
