Dear Dad:-

Just rec'd your welcome letter of Nov 27th. Am in receipt of a letter from Frank. He is at Le Havre on his way to join the battalion. He sent me a parcel of tobacco from London but I did not see him as he did not know where I was as he went on leave before he got my letter telling him where I was.

I had a great time last weekend. I got a pass from Friday noon till Sunday midnight. I went up to London and had tea. After tea bummed round for a while and then took the 7:15 train to Croydon, dropped in to see the Warners and spent the night with Prescott Row. Stayed Saturday, and Saturday night went over to dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Thornbury. Mrs. Thornbury is a sister to Mrs. Buss. Gee, talk about a reception. About five courses ending with coffee and cigars. They were very disappointed at not seeing you when you were on leave.

I had Sunday dinner with the Warners and then went to Twickenham tob seec Mrs. Adams and spent the evening there.

That lady who wrote to Bessie is a lady who used to come and see me in Napsbury. Her name is Mrs. Marshall and she is companion to Lady Grimston who also used to bring us fruit. She came down from St. Albans the other day and took me and another Canuck out for tea. She also sent me a parcel with a muffler and some eats.

I rec'd your 1915 Xmas cake from St. Matthews last Monday. It had been to the woodcutters and Lord knows where. It was in good shape however and I enjoyed it.

I am going up to London tonight with a party to the Savoy Hotel. Some Grande Dame is taking us up. Bon, eh?

Well my arm is pretty well healed up now but I am not doing any jerks yet as it is crooked and not much use yet. I'm jake for a while anyhow.

You want to be sure and get leave and we'll sure hit it up. Well be good ton yourself and remember me to Hustwayte.

Jack
