Aberdeen,
Sept. 11, 1918

Dear Mother:

Just a line before supper. As you will see by the address I am over on leave and in Bonnie Scotland. Crossed from Boulogne on the fifth, spent the sixth in London getting cleaned up and left for Scotland that night and got to Edinburgh in the morning and took the 2:00 p.m. train for Aberdeen arriving at about six. Only intended to stay here for a couple if days but it is such an ideal spot for spending a leave that we are still here and planning to stay over Sunday. The Y recommended us to a private house to board and the people treat us as though we were their own family. We are so much at home that we hate to leave. Have not time now to write much but Aberdeen is the cleanest town and has the most hospitable people that I have ever struck. Will write you before I go back. Am going to see Claude the first of the week. Bought a camera here because I thought they were as cheap as at home. Will send some snaps next letter.

Now must ring off as supper is ready. Will write again in a day or so. Excuse scrawl - am lying in the bed writing. By the way am sending a few souvenirs

Love to all, Harold
