Dear Mother:

Received your parcel of February 12th containing that splendid birthday cake and your letter of February 3rd last night. Many thanks for them both. Say that cake certainly went to the spot. Don't know when I have enjoyed anything so much. We ate a part it when it came and are saving the rest of it for St. Patrick's Day. Yes I got a parcel containing flat Thermos, waffle, shirt etc. and wrote thanking you for them. Also received your registered letter about a week ago. Mentioned it in my last letter written on the fourth. You have certainly been having a siege of cold over home this winter. I wish I were handy enough to run in for a good sleigh drive or a skate but will have to wait until next winter for that. It is very fortunate for us that we have not had it so mild for the two things we like the least are cold and the mud. Now I must ring off as the mail is just going out and I want this note to go. Will write a decent letter in a few days, probably on the 17th. All well as usual.

Love to all from your loving son, Harold
