1840 Rose St.

I received your letter the other day also the one from Alice Craig of which I wish you would thank her very much for me. Enclosed find a Mo. not Medical Officer, for $20, to pay for my war bond and the balance to send my trunk to the above address. I do not know how long I will stay there but will be there for a week or so at least until such time as I can find a better place. I was feeling pretty sick Saturday and Sunday and had to quit work on Monday afternoon. I went up to see the Invalided Soldiers' Commission and they wanted to sent me to hospital but told them I would rather try a little treatment as it might mine my job if I go back to hospital. One of us will have to leave shortly, that is if one of the lads that worked in the office comes back to work, although he only came home today. And the one that stays is the one that does the best work of which the foreman said that the other fellow would have to hustle if he wanted to beat me to it but do not know how much of it is bluff. But if I should happen to have to go and get wind of it before hand will take a whack at the hospital, but if I do not improve in the next few days better than the last few will most likely have to give it up anyway, but if I could get a few weeks work in first would help me out quite a bit. Of course if I go back to hospital will be put on pay again. I do not want to upset you but will let you know how things are anyway. Tomorrow or as soon as I can get to the bank will salt away about $175.00 for a starter. Send any mail to the Post for the time being anyway. You will not get this until Saturday morning so will not get my trunk before Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. I might swap it for a big valice if I have to do much shifting around. Oh! yes I got fixed up with the union O.K. and have found out that any man with previous printing experience before enlisting can take up the linotype or monotype at the Vocational school in Winnipeg and if I go to hospital might take a course in it before getting out of it again. Of course that is only a fancy I have and hope that I will never see the hospital. The doctor said it seemed that the bile does not pass through my bowels therefore causing the pains and if so should have me gall tapped and then again it might be gall stones but could not tell off hand as he would put me under an XRay if I went to hospital. Cyril Currie & Jim Raines just came in tonight as I was writing this letter and Cyril has gone skating and think I will go over in a few minutes myself. While I was sitting in the Y hut here I asked the Y.M.C.A. man if that was not Mrs. Joe Parker and he said yes. I do not know how I ever came to remember her as I only saw her a few times. She said that Aunt Effie was asking for me, and said she would like to see me so I suppose its up to me to go and see her some time soon. Hoping this finds everybody well. Has Muriel any more word of Gordon. Love to all from your loving son

Gordon
