Dear Dad:-

We left Havre, the last place I wrote home from, Wednesday evening. Spent the night and all day Thursday on the train and arrived here that night. It sure is a fine place. There is a big chateau in which we have our mess and then a long kind of shed affair with partitions. We each have one cubicle with a bed in it! I never expected a bed in France. The rooms aren't awfully big of course about 6' X 12' but they are fine to sleep in.

I was censoring letters the last few days at Havre and it sure is amusing, but you soon get sick of it. I can't tell you where we are but it is 23 miles behind the lines anyway and we'll be here for a long while. We start work today at 10.15 and have a half holiday as it's our first day. The country around here is fine, miles & miles without a fence and every inch of it ploughed up.

The messing here is very good, although, as yet I've only had breakfast. I can't tell you what we do as we haven't done anything yet. However, I'll write Nen a good long letter on Sunday when I have more time. I'm writing this on my bed so please excuse the scrawl. Best love to all.

Bev.
