Hello Ann

I am on short leave & figured this would be a good spot to see. I don't suppose you could find it but it is supposed to be quite a water sports resort in times of peace, but the war has put a damper on all that. We are quite near the Swiss & Italian lines, in fact we can see the mountain tops from the window. Some nine miles to the Swiss & Mt. Blanc is towering just over our heads some 14000 feet above sea level. But someway it doesn't impress me much & the other boys that are with me Whally Sherriff Edwards think the same. It must be that we have lost respect for heights, for the old Singer Bldg made a much bigger impression on me.

I wish you & Glad & Jess & Eloise could be here to see the sights but believe me if I ever come again, I am going to fly over. We started yesterday early morn &* arrived here today noon all the time in the train with about ten changes & waits & lots of talking & arguing but we found the best way was to plead no knowledge of French at all, and just shake our heads when they wanted to put us out. My it was fun sometimes when you knew just what he was trying to get at in the trains & we would shake our heads & just sit in the best compartment & would not move & go all over the country on our railway warents that did not call for these places at all.

We are going to Nice tomorrow.

Lots of love, Pete
