My darling girl,

Your letter of May 24th to hand O.K. was very pleased to hear that Annie had a little son & that both were doing well. Your account of the Motor ride you got was very interesting. Well sweetheart you want to know what my daily routine is, well will try & tell you what it has been while down at Hythe. At 7 a.m. my servant comes into the bedroom, puts out the Hip bath, & warm water in hot water can, lays out my clothes, pulls up the blind tells me it's 7 o'clock & goes out, takes me from 20 to 30 minutes to make up my mind to get up, after which I have a bath, & shave & go down to the Mess for breakfast, at 9 o'clock there is a lecture in a sort of a school building at which we take notes in a rough note book, 10 to 11 we go out & get instruction in one of the subjects relating to musketry, 11 to 12 we get another subject, 12 to 1 something else, 1 to 2 lunch, 2 to 4 is divided up again into the different subjects, 4 we have tea, after which I write up my notes into a loose leaf book in ink, this to be kept for future reference, from 6-30 to 7-30 p.m. I & another fellow get our Instructor in our room to give us more assistance, 7-30 to 8-30 p.m. Dinner, after dinner which is now I am writing I study or write to my dearest girl, so that gives you a fair idea of our routine at Hythe, Saturday afternoons is [sic] a holiday I generally go up to Risborough barracks & stay until Sunday night. I & the two Waller boys took a row up the Canal which goes through Hythe it is very pretty, this was on Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed it so much that we spent most of Sunday yesterday on the canal accompanied by their Aunt & Cousin from
