Pte. A. GREIG WRITES (FROM FRANCE)

Pte. A. Greig, who resided at Mina for some time before enlisting and later in town where he was with Mr. and Mrs. D.F. Henry writes the latter as follows:

Received your welcome letter and parcel all right and was glad to get them and I thank you very much. This is a terrible war. We have been out here over a year and no pass yet but we must not give up hope. I trust to God to bring me safe back to you all again, and that will be happy day for me. Well, I suppose you will know what is the matter that I could not write sooner, but now I have a little time to-night and I am glad as I have to send a letter home. Well Tom Court told me that he saw 'DODE' the other day on the march out. Sorry, I did not see him. Tom is getting along all right. He will be the head of the house when he gets back, so look out for that night. Well, I am glad John is back home as this is some life.

I hope you are all in the best of health. I send my best love to all and hope to hear from all soon, and I will write the first chance I get.
From your friend,
ALEX GREIG.
'Goodnight, Mother.'
Word was received here later that pte. Greig was wounded.
