PRISONER OF WAR WRITES

Pte. J. Feather, 24,128; 13th Canadian Highlanders, has written to Mrs., Edwin Lacey, Camborne, from Eiger Hotel, Murren, Switzerland where he is at present interned, as follows:

Dear Madam:
Being the lucky person to receive the cigarettes and tobacco, I am writing these few lines to thank you in answer to your note which I found in the parcel. Having the misfortune to be wounded and taken prisoner at the second battle of Ypres, I was prisoner in Germany for fifteen months before being one of the lucky ones to be sent to Switzerland. I cannot describe my feelings on reaching this land of liberty after being a prisoner so long. I might say I went under an operation two weeks ago for my arm and I think it has been pretty successful, for I can straighten my fingers a lot better now. I expect to leave the hospital before Christmas for my hotel in Murren, which I consider one of the beauty spots in the world, I hope you will be able to make out this writing as I have to write with my left hand, as I have my right hand strapped up, Well I guess I had better finish with the best of wishes and thanking you once again for your kindness.
