Lieut R.M. BEST writing from the Trench Mortar Batteries, France, to Miss Doris Carter, says:

'The parcel you so kindly sent me arrived all O.K. today. (Dec. 24th) and I wish to thank you most sincerely for it. The parcel contained the most useful things and are just what I am in need of. It is indeed very thoughtful of you to remember me at this time of the year, especially when I have been away from Cobourg for so long a time. It is also very encouraging for us to know that while we face the enemy out here we are remembered at home,

I trust that each and all of you will enjoy the Christmas festivities and that increased prosperity will be yours throughout the coming year.'
