My Dear Margaret,

Received your letter-gram, appreciate your thoughtfulness of me, when I know your own heart is sore. Oh Margaret I hardly know what to write but I want you to feel you have my sympathy despite my own feelings as yet it seems impossible to realize the truth. I have had no further correspondence but seen his dear name in the list.

The last letter I received from Murray was written July 27 and it was the same message. Don't worry. Everybody is very kind, but I want to be alone as many do not understand. Flowers are sent in kindness but they hurt too.

I don't want to be selfish but I feel it hard to give him up even for his country, but I know I would have been ashamed if he had not proffered.

Our trip east is postponed but we will go later, likely sometime towards the end of September. We are going to D'Arcy's on Tuesday they wanted me to come right away, but I could not, but I got up and went to church last Sunday, and the service did me good.

Dear Margaret, you know the source of comfort, better words than I can give you. I hope you will always feel that I am more than a friend to you.

I really can write no more but hope to see you before very long. Try and be brave. We must be worthy of those who sacrifice so much for us.

Will expect to hear from you soon.

Yours affectionately
Murrays Mother
and Yours in
Sympathy
