Left camp at 8 A.M. Formed an advanced guard. Joined the main body of Strathconas with General Clery's Brigade at 10 A.M. about 5 miles from Watervaal. Quite a fine sight seeing the brigade. Brigade moved camp about noon. Fired two cannon balls at the Boers. They replied but didn't do any damage. Seven of us went out on outlying picket: 13 of the Strathconas on picket 2 at a time. Didn't see any Boers.
