Poem

France,
Dec. 9/17

To Members of the 'Uno' Club

Just a few words here in my dugout,
While the rest of the boys are all out,
To convey my very great appreciation
For a parcel and card beyond comparation.

The candles will serve to light my ways
Through rooms up and down many dark stairways,
And prevent "Uno" what no real good Christian would say,
When they fall over something which happens to be in their way.

The boneless pigs feet were simply delicious,
And we boys found them highly nutritious.
My pleasure at sight of cigarettes, tobacco and pipe were depicted,
By a very broad smile which was in no way restricted.

As regards the biscuits and cake,
The vote was unanimous that they were of the finest make.
The chiclets we found were without question,
Really delightful and an aid to digestion.

And now before closing I would like to express,
My very best wishes for your Club's future success.

Sincerely,
H.H. Rumsey
