Wed. Mar. 21 -

In early morning arrived at Havre. Forenoon and part of afternoon spent in disembarking and cleaning up horses' quarters.

3:30 p.m. - Left with guns, etc., marched thru Havre and so saw quite a bit of city - not many people about. Towards dark arrived at a rest camp on a hill above city where English & colonial troops are quartered for a few days ere they entrain for a base. Very muddy - snowed some in evening. Picketed horses in open with harness on wagons. We were quartered twelve in a tent like those in Petawawa. YMCA & canteen near by. English spoken all over camp. £1 = 27 francs 90c. or about $5.58 where in Eng. exchange £1 = about $4.87. Had a real good night's rest.
