Dear Sir

I have your letter of the 18th [?] enquiring for particulars of the death of your son Corporal Donald C. Reid.

It is only recently that I have returned to "C" Coy and as the fighting at Amiend, Arras. [?] and [?] was stiff and casualties many there is hardly anyone about who is [?] with the particulars I would like to forward you.

[?] S.C. Reid is still with the Coy and I have asked him today to write you.

Your son was with the Bn. entraining at Arras Station when it was bombed by German flying machines causing about 60 casualties- your son being one of the 10 who were killed. He was buried at Arras the following day. the Colonel remaining behind with the Chalpain.

I will see the Colonel today and ask him for further particulars.

Your son had done splendid work and all ranks join me in sympathy for you in your loss.

Yours very sincerely,
H.E. Grower Capt.
