Popular Employee Leaves Company to March Down Aisle
MISS WANDA SPENCER, the popular secretary to both Mr. H.S. Hammill, the V.M.D. general manager, and Mr. D.R. Anderson, comptroller, left the company on August 23rd to become the bride of P.O. Leslie Gill, of the Royal Canadian Navy.
Miss Spencer started with the V.M.D. several years ago when the only general office was located at the ship repair plant, 343 Bay Street. She has always proven to be a valued stenographer, an enthusiastic and reliable executive assistant, and a competent coach to the host of new girls who have started with the Company during the last eighteen months.
It is with mixed feelings of regret and congratulations that we write this short nuptial note concerning her departure.
Wanda’s ability and cheerful disposition will be missed by those who were privileged to transact business with her department, but we all join in wishing her the best of good luck and happiness in the future.
Her consistent popularity can perhaps be measured by the fact that more than 165 V.M.D. employees were responsible for presenting Wanda with a 52-piece set of silver, and a cut-glass water jug and goblets, on the eve of her departure.
