My Own Darling Husband (for a year)
This was the week when I wasn’t going to send an Airgraph. But I have to write to you today, don’t I? All day I’ve been thinking “This time last year”. And just now (6 p.m) I received a cable from you!
How on earth did you manage to get it here right on the day? It’s so wonderful – I hadn’t dared hope it could come today. And such a lovely cable. I haven’t the exact wording, as Norm took it over the phone for me (it will be mailed and I’ll get it tomorrow) but I got the gist of it. But I don’t know why you thank me for marrying you. I’m always so thankful that you married me. It’s been such a lovely year – and I want to be married to you for ever so long – centuries!
Mum has been so funny today- she must be expecting something to come out from town, as she’s been up to meet nearly every bus. That’s how she got my cable – they had just phoned the P.O. when she was up there. But she gave us a present this morning –two packs of playing cards, so we can have bridge games. And she sent us a card in the mail. But she insists something else is coming – I’ll leave a space to tell you what it is. Mary came out today – and gave us a glass bowl and 6 little fruit dishes.
I don’t like this form of Air Letter, but they hadn’t the others at the P.O. today. This one doesn’t give me room to tell you how much I love you. But you do know, don’t you darling? And thanks so much for being such a great husband. And thanks again for the cable. It means so much.
Your loving wifie
Wannie.
