Dear Eira;
Just a few lines to thank you very much for the lovely Christmas present; and also to let you know I enjoyed every bit of it.
Sorry to have been so long in writing but these days I haven’t felt much like letter writing, but here goes for a few lines.
I had a nice trip back here by train but it was very quiet and I had a good rest. I arrived back here in the middle of the heavy fog. Then on top of my leave I was given five days at Xmas which I spent in Victoria visiting friends. I had a very nice but quiet time. Then went on night duty for ten days during the New Year’s holiday.
At present I am on Temporary Duty here in Van. for about two months and maybe longer. I came down to the Command Medical Board to see if they can find out why my legs are still bothering me. I’ve had two interviews with the M.O. so far and he has advised me to get most of my teeth out and also my tonsils out. I’ve had two or three Blood Counts taken and there is nothing to worry about.
I have had a bad cold for about ten days and haven’t been to the dentist lately, but am going again maybe to‑morrow.
I have been to some very good shows since coming here and have stayed in most nights, writing letters; knitting; washing and ironing and going to bed early.
A couple of my girl friends from Comox, and Mont Joli are here so we chum around together when we are off duty.
Well Eira whats news? Are they keeping you busy these days? Did you see Eunice when she was in Regina? Have you seen Dot. and Gordon lately? What kind of weather are you having these days?
We have had a lot of fog and rain since I arrived here about two weeks ago. It just poured for over twelve hours and the roads were beginning to flood over. At present it looks as though its going to clear up and I hope it does for a change.
To‑morrow evening I am supposed to be going out for supper and then to a show with an old friend of mine from Regina.
Well Eira news is scarse so really must call this quits. Hoping to hear from you again soon. Will write again soon and hope to have more news for you. Take good care of yourself and don’t work too hard.
Lovingly.
Jean.
