Dear Dad

Well I thought I had better drop you a line before you got sore at me for not writing. there isn’t very much to say except I enjoy it very much down here and am having a good time. we buy beer down here at 25¢ a quart bottle in the canteen and its much stronger then in winnipeg the bottle is twice the size and its really good. we have lots of freedom here only 5½ hours drill a day we can stay out till twelve oclock every night except when on duity which is about once every two weeks, they are very strict when on parade but we dont mind that.

It looks like there is lots of colas here all though I am not sure its colas the parade ground as Fort Fronitnac the main barrack is paved and I am sure it is colas and it looks very good. we have a dry dock and ship yard right beside the barricks we are just on the St Lawarance River they are getting ready to build some kind of a boat. Thank mother for the two dollars she sent me it sure came in handy and tell her I will write her to-morrow night as the boys are waiting for me to go out, so will say good-bye for now with lots of love to all

Mac
