My Dear Mir.

I suppose I am a nasty old beast, for not writing sooner, but I have been waiting till I had my old mug shot, and the result is enclosed. Pretty fair, Eh?

I am lonely as the deuce tonight, and have just returned from down town (8 P.M.), where I thought I might meet a little chicken, from whom, I expected a note to-day. When I arrived home, tho, found a letter from her, and also from another one. The first, will meet me to-morrow eve, and the other, hopes to Thursday, but will let me know later for sure. The first one is rather like Georgie, small, fair,

thing to fall back on. I know what it is like to be away and absolutely without money. I will write two letters home each week and one to Nert, also one to Mir, if possible, but you can send them on to her. I do little writing except home, just now and have a heap to answer.

Ault must be O.K., he was boarded to-day, and his papers have come thro to me so he will be discharged 7/9/17. I hear Pete Wilson has been married, but do not know for sure. Anyone, even in good, health and circumstances, who marries now, is most foolish, I think.

Now for yours of Aug 14th, as there is another mail in. Glad you enjoyed the trip, and wish I could have taken it with you, but how on earth, did you break a spring. Must be some more of Dad’s hard driving.

Very sad that [Less.?] Harris got “napoo” but I am glad Nick got touched up, and only hope he made “Blighty”. Don’t you feel sorry for those who get wounded, unless very badly, as they are lucky. The happiest of all wounded men tho, seem to be those who have lost one leg. They are sure that they are out of it for good.

Too bad also, about Carrie. I so hoped that she would pull thro, but such is fate.

Glad you have the films, was beginning to fear for their safety.

Mac would do well to enter the air service and to take the photographic work. It is a fine branch and you are of the utmost possible limit serving your country, as the photos so obtained, enable them to blow up trenches etc.

Will be ever so glad to get the box, as I do so appreciate home cooking, and pastry is so high now, little cakes 2[d?] . I never told you, I guess that we are back on white bread again. I believe the wheat supply is very good, and not much trouble getting it across now. I understand that Eastman’s have even been permitted to bring across a very large shipment of film.

Lovingly,
Worth.
