My Dear Mother,

Another week and no mail, it is terrible expecting a letter everyday, and never getting any. I sincerely hope that you are getting mine, as I know you would cable if anything was wrong there, while you know, I am more or less alone here. I am perfectly well tho, except for some blood trouble. I have another bunch of “hives” like I had at Moore. Guess they were not bites at all. They are going to start me on some blood treatment to-morrow, to try and rid me of the trouble. I do have some of the best sleeps during the day, sleeping all day, every second or third day.

As soon as I go off duty, I am going over to the boys lines, as they expect to “fall in” for France at 7 A.M., Lester was over to-night. He, Money, McKinnon, Nick and Crossett will not go. The others will likely all go. Of course they are not absolutely sure.

I have been rather busy to-night, we had a slight, emergency operation on my floor, and my sick patient is very low. He is off his head about half the time, and it is very trying but we still have a slight hope of pulling him thro. His poor little wife is nearly crazy. I think his trouble is very much like Father’s was, after the pneumonia, and I know something of what you have gone thro. This is the 28th night, I have watched over him, and only one night did I have any help, a sister was with me for about an hour. I think tho, that I am heavier than I have been, and surely feel fine. I think I will take a week-end pass to London before long. Will likely be taken off nights, this week, but would rather stay on, and may yet.

One of the boys paraded the other day for a transfer and the Colonel said he was not sure about going to France yet, but if we were going, he would not transfer anyone. So apparently, there is no sure information as yet. I am beginning to wish tho, that I could get back to Eastbourne, altho they say we are better off right here. I won’t be up there this month anyway.

Say I sent home from London a long handled brush I was using for my buttons. I wish you would please have Dad saw the handle off and round the end up with a file and send it, the first time you are sending anything. I can’t get anything as good for my buttons.

Hope you are all well.

Lovingly,
Worth.
