Dear Dad.

I have yours of the 10th and 17th of last month, and must get busy on them, as I have some films to be developed. Orders against photography have been cancelled so I will do a good deal. It is rather difficult for me to develop here as I have no proper place to do the work. Have Nert look my films over for soda stains and re-wash any films or plates that need it. I forgot to ask her to do this before.

I surely hope Miss Stover is better as you will certainly need her now.

I have had a parcel from home, with cakes, milk, chocolate etc.. All good condition, thanks. Also parcels from Reade and Hazel Mc. Will write them as soon as I can.

[Meriden?] must be up against it, but suppose the govt. will release both gold and silver now. Jewelery will probably be high for some time to come. A decent weight souvenir spoon costs 25₣. in the South. That is about $500. I saw a camera like my 2¼ x 2¼ sold in a store the other day for 195₣. I paid about £3/15/- for mine in Blighty.

I would have had you buy bonds for practically full deposit, but for the fact that I will need the cash if I am able to get to Blighty or go to Rochester. If neither of these materialize I won’t need much after I get back. I am going to try to draw no more after the $50.00 which I hope Nert has sent me to use down South. I expect to leave anytime between the 18th and 31st of the month, and intend seeing all I can and getting all the photos I can. If possible I will go to the Palaces at Versailles where the Peace Conference will sit.

I am not a bit sorry that our friend has gone to Buffalo. I wish I were there now to carry right on. We understand that the boys overseas will be returned at the rate of 20,000 per month, after Peace is signed. At that rate it will take us six to nine months yet. I would not be so surprised tho, if they made an exception and returned us as a unit in April or May, altho we know absolutely nothing when we will go. We are comfortable and in huts and it seems but natural, that they should demobilize tented hospitals first.

Have had a rotten cold, but was not laid up with it and they don’t bother my nose and eyes like they did before my last operation. It is about all gone now.

Love to all,
Your affectionate son,
Worth.
