Dear Sister Gertie,

Just received your letter, also Bessie's about Papa's death. Our old home will never be the same now, will it?

Am glad to hear he did not suffer any, I suppose it was just the same as Uncle John, he was the only one of Papa's brothers I remember very well. I know Jim must have taken great care of him. He always was a great hand around when anyone was sick, am afraid he will be very lonesome now, all alone.

What a fine home and great chance it would be for some girl, eh.

I lost that letter of Bessie's telling me about Evans, who is going to be our new brother in law but hope to hear from her again soon.

It must be an awful winter, this year it's a good thing grub isn't scarce, though I am afraid it isn't like it used to be.

Remember what an awful quantity we used to have. Pork, Venison, chickens, apples, etc "makes mouth water now".

Oh yes, my number has been changed. It is 507327 the address is the same.
Please tell Jim to write some time as soon as I get a chance I'll write and tell you about a trip I had along Vimy Ridge and all the graves. I saw quite a number I knew from our province.

The Canadians have a great name over here, pretty near every one I meet soon as he sees CANADA on my shoulder, comes over to shake hands, I have charge of a small motor boat now, and have been very well except for rheumatics. I try and write to Bess soon.

Best regards to Berton and all the little Folks.

Love from Roy

P.S. Papa was a mighty good living man. I always remember his prayers every night and he never missed reading the Bible Sunday morning in all the years I was home.
