My Dear Nert,

Well honey I haven’t a letter from you to answer, but must write home to-night.

We have had a most glorious day, just like early fall, or almost like spring. I drew my coal to-day in my shirt sleeves, imagine on the day before Christmas. This is my afternoon off and I have spent the afternoon reading in front of the Y fire, “Cappy Ricks,” which Floss sent me. I have read two hundred pages at the one sitting now it is seven P.M. and I will write you and Vera Allen. Then I will read some more and go home and spend Christmas Eve in front of our own little fire with the boys.

I have no more parcels yet, but the congestions of the postal service must be terrible, and I will no doubt be receiving mail between Christmas and New Years. I have not heard from Happy yet, so don’t know whether or not, I am to see the boys to-morrow night. However, if I do not, I will have a good time with our own bunch in the house.

It was only yesterday, that I went deep enough into the box to discover the cookies and shreded wheat. Both are fine and I had a shreded w for breakfast this morning. Our supply of oatmeal has run out as I believe a couple of shiploads met with accidents (?).

To-morrow, all the patients, who are possibly able will go up to the dining hall for dinner, and we have to be waiters. On Tuesday, we have our Christmas dinner, there too, so things should be quite pleasant. We have a fine bunch of Canadian Apples and doubtless there will be all kinds of Christmas Cheer.

My cold I am glad to say has shown a great improvement in the last couple of days and has in fact disappeared nearly altogether.

Corp Mc Carm is still, under the weather, but hopes to be well enough to enjoy a feast to-morrow night.

Well my Dear, I think this will have to be all to-night. It is about 2 P.M. with you now and I suppose you have just finished up the dinner dishes, but they wont take long now with only three of you, Eh?

Your loving brother,
Worth.
