Dearest Audrey:

Hiya little chum how we doin? I haven’t received a letter yet so haven’t any idea how you are or anything else. All I know is that I miss you an awfully lot and wanna get back to where I came from, namely Nanaimo and if you don’t know why the fourth and fifth line will tell you. You have no idea what loneliness is till you’re seven thousand miles away, and I don’t mind saying I’m da–– good and lonely. How about you?

Well darling you probably know by now that I am taking a signaling course. After this first week, I think I had better have my haid examined I had no idea it was going to be so hard to get back in the studying groove. What a rut. Taint funny either. Ha Ha.

Don and I are coming along pretty good though, who knows but in ten weeks time we might be qualified signalmen, at least that is what we hope. Here is how we came to be in what we are. Don and a few others had their names put down for the signal course, Don didn’t want it but he had to take it at the time so I volunteered for it, then Don had a chance to get out of it but he stayed because I was in it. Simple eh? I mean our heads, not the explanation of it. Our class is supposed to get a week-end leave at Xmas, so our signal officer told us and I might go to your aunt and uncle’s in Glasgow if I can make it. They told me come if I got any leave, so here’s hoping I get some. Have you received a letter from them yet? Which reminds me, I had better write and let them know that I’m still kicking.

Well honey has the new boss of the Benson family arrived yet or are they still waiting? I wish it would hurry up so you could let me know what it is. I’ll bet it will be a girl because I haven’t heard of any girl yet that was on time and I hardly think (it is possible) they will start now (Ahem)

How is Lorna, Bernie and all the others? Same as ever I guess. Don says hello and also that he will write when he gets caught up on his fan mail, Ha Ha. Say duck if you send your letters by these Air Mail forms it only takes from seven to ten days to reach, let me know how long this one took will you. This is all for now honey but will write again real soon. Say hello to all, give my love to your mom and dad. Bye for now.
