Dear Hazel -

Rec'd your letter yesterday and it was fine to have one from you. We are not doing much here now as we expect to go overseas in a couple of weeks I will have my last leave this week and hope to spend some time with you and the girls. We have from Friday noon till Tuesday night but of course it takes a long time going and coming.

Lee hasn't turned up yet. I think he is classed as being "absent without leave. He is rather foolish to stay away I think. Mr Ashley told me today that Lee should be here but I told him I didn't know anything about him.

Every body seems pleased that we are going away. We will certainly have to go soon or we will miss the big drive of course we are not crazy to get into the fight but we all want to do our share. All our harvesting furloughs are cancelled so I will only be home for a short time. I was counting considerably on that month at home but you can never tell anything in the army.

Our section has been split up several of the boys transfering the the divisional signallers. They were telegraphers and experienced at that.

Well Hazel we have to work tonight so I will close. Will try to see you on Sat sometime and of course on Sunday.

Jack
