Dear Mildred: -

Another of these short cards. I’m O.K. as per usual just puttering about, about four days out of seven and working now and again. At present we are duty crew so we stay in one of Mussolini’s old stable just in case we are needed. Ther’s no fresh news so my activities are all I can tell you. Yesterday I went for a good long walk (7 miles) with Sel and Jeff. Ther’s not much to see except a few sheep, goats and camel or donkey straying about. However the ground is covered with scented stock which is in bloom now and at night it has a very pleasant aroma.

Today I put on a fire to heat water for my washing and burned out the water coil in my heater so had to spend most of the rest of the A.M. fixing it. However I’ll have a bath tomorrow and do my washing as well if nothing unforseen turns up. Then I think in about a week we will apply for leave if we can get three weeks or a month, we haven’t had any since leaving England, though I may have said so just by way of being able to mention names of places. Anyhow until I write again I send my love to you and John –

Lawrence.
