Dear Phyllis, Ed, Jane and Mary Anne (?)

I was delighted to hear today of the first arrival of my second niece. I am as happy as a clam and you can go on having nieces for me as long as you want to. I shall love them all. – You suggest, Phyllis, that I shall have to have the sons. Well, I honestly don’t care. I must admit, and this is by no means the first time, that I would like to have all daughters myself. –

By now you will all be over this first excitement, and discomfort and will be enjoying things more. I only hope it will not be too long before I am there with you. – I cannot get over it. I am as happy now as I have been for a long time and do wish all four of you my best love. –

I was very glad to hear from Mother that Leigh is arriving home, I do hope he won’t be in too bad shape. – I also got a letter from Rene. Mary and Jane had had rides in the swings at the park and had enjoyed it so much. – It makes me quite homesick. However it may be over soon and then home I come.

I have just had as good a weeks leave as I have ever had so am not too bad. Swimming every day and a very healthy brown.
