Dear Aunt Eva and Uncle Ross,

I got the sad news about Howard in a letter from Mother this morning. I cannot tell you how sorry I am and how much I am thinking of you and the others of your family today.

There is little I can offer in the way of consolation except to give you my heartfelt wishes for some good news to come soon.

I will be glad to make what investigations I can when I get over and anything I can find out you will know as soon as I can write.
