Dear Mother and Dad,

I got back here from Montreal at around 10 oclock last night. I sure had a good time and saw a lot of Montreal. Taylor and I rode the street-cars all over the city and when we came to an interesting spot, we stopped and walked around. In a little French store in the old section of the city I bought this crusafix as a mother’s day present. It isn’t much but it is a souvenir of Montreal. We saw Magill University and other famous landmarks in the city. On Sat. night we went to the Scandinavian club and while Taylor was drinking cocktails I talked to a captain of a merchant navy ship. He used to live in Germany before the war and we were speaking German like natives. I was surprised how well my German worked. Taylor was so surprised that he couldn’t talk of anything else that night.

I received a letter that had been sent to Cornwallis by mistake, with the snapshots. I look like a telephone pole with clothes on. I got the socks and short-bread. They are good!!!

My morse is coming along so fast I will have to work to keep up with it. I am doing O.K. so far.

Your loving son,
Malcolm
