Tues. Apr. 3 -

Got up about 10:00 a.m. Was rather uncomfortable as there was no good way of drying clothes. Three or four of us did some work on our dugout. Pay parade - 1:30 p.m. - 15 francs. Mail arrived at last - received 6 letters. All were addressed to 50th Bty - had been sent on with 54th mail to our centre section in the 6th Bty, 2nd Bde., then sent back to the D.A.C. They had been written on Feb. 13 - 21. About 4:00 p.m. was told that Pitcher & I were to report with full kit that evening to officer in command of horse lines of 6th Bty. So we were to go back to our old subsection in the battery. We had a long walk that evening of over three miles from Ecoivres to Camblain l'Abbé. Arrived there about 9:30 almost exhausted. Have seldom been so nearly done out before. Were welcomed in a good sized tent by the drivers and a few gunners of the sub. A good fire was going. It seemed so good and that night we had a good sleep.
