My Dear Mr. & Mrs. Gale

I am taking the liberty of writing to you for your son Ralph C. Gale in order to let you know that he has been taken down with a very serious illness and though given the best of care and medical attention in a first class hospital here he had a relapse and passed away on the 29^th of July 1918. Please accept my deepest sympathy in your time of great trouble for his death has been a great shock to me for we have been together since our capture
