My Dear Sir

I am writing to you to say how deeply and sincerely I and the whole of the 1^st Canadian Division feel both for and with you in the loss of your gallant son who has just given his life for his country.

In such a loss as yours (I have somewhat similar experience myself) words of sympathy are apt to seem but bare and barren, yet I think that we all like to know that others feel for and with us. If this can be of any help to you I can assure you that you have the most sincere sympathy of myself and the whole Division
